The Magee Board of Aldermen met at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, for a regularly scheduled meeting. Bradley Edwards, Pastor of Christ Fellowship Church in Magee, opened the meeting with a prayer that was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The agenda for the meeting was approved.
Forrest Dungan of Clearpoint Engineers updated the board on current and upcoming work projects in the city. The board approved advertisement for grant-writing services.

The board approved a motion to close out MWCI projects.
The board discussed with Dungan the status of the fence at the playground.
The minutes of the board’s previous meeting were approved.
The board approved several special events applications, including:
- A Grants Workshop by the MS Arts Commission
- Main Street Magee’s Mardi Gras Crawl and Parade of Paws
- Mardi Gras on Main Parade.
The board considered the need for a fence to create a barrier between Highway 49 and the city’s shooting range, which is only open to law enforcement officers accompanied by certified trainers. The right of way has been marked, and the length of the fence required will be approximately 340 ft.
Mayor Mark Grubbs said, “It’s a lot of area to cover.”
Public Works Superintendent Tim Bray was asked to acquire quotes for building the fence.
The board approved the claims docket and a payment in the amount of $9877 to ECS Electric for work done at the airport.

Jimmy Zila of Parks and Recreation presented the board with an updated advertising agreement for signage at the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex. After discussion of the details of the agreement, as well as possible ways to increase advertising revenue at the Sportsplex, the board decided to table the issue.
Bray advised the board that his department is currently working on curb cleaning.

Fire Chief David Craft reported there have been 12 fire calls since December 16, 2025.
Zoning Board Chairman Jim Ball told the board that two zoning hearings had been postponed. The first, which was originally scheduled for December, will be held in February. The other, which had been postponed from November to January, will not be held.

Newly hired Airport Manager David Moore updated the board on fuel sales at the airport.
The board entered executive session to discuss personnel matters.
