Daniel Duncan Yates, 80, passed away on August 26, 2026. He was born on June 5, 1946, in Magee, MS, to his parents, William Joseph Yates and Mary Etta Cockrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph Yates and Mary Etta Cockrell Yates; his sister, Millie Yates Brewer ; and his brothers, Billy Yates and Roger Yates.
Daniel is survived by his stepdaughter, Kim Goins; step-sons, Kevin Romero (Julie), Chris Romero (Stephanie), and Brian Romero (Selina); brothers, Thomas Yates (Phyllis) and Donny Yates (Katherine); brother-in-law, Charles Brewer; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Daniel loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Fishing was more of a love than a hobby. Daniel loved his family very much and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, at 1:00 PM, with visitation from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
