Senior Night At MHS!

Friday, October 19, 2018 in a pregame celebration, senior football players, band members, and cheerleaders were recognized before the Crystal Springs game!

Serving as captains for Magee were #3 Javo Thurman, #15 Bronsha Harris, #61 Ladamein Ducksworth, and #12 Jaylon Langston.

Magee won the toss and deferred until second half. Crystal Springs received the ball and returned to their own 38-yard line.

Crystal Springs sprang into action wasting no time. With 10:16 remaining on the clock, the Tigers scored on a 31-yard touchdown run. The PAT was good and Crystal Springs was on the board with a lead of 7-0.

Magee responded quickly. #2 Chandler Pittman for Magee received a pass in the flat and ran for 60-yards to score on the first play of scrimmage.  Magee elected to go for two points and was successful. Trojans took the lead 8-7.

After a good defensive series, Magee’s #26, Cayden Bridges blocked the punt and #2 Chandler Pittman recovered on Crystal Springs 43-yard line. Magee  could not find the end zone and settled for a 29-yard field goad by Sam Rials. Magee increased the lead  11-7.

Crystal Springs answered with a 20-yard touchdown pass. The point after attempt was good and Crystal Springs was back on top by a score of 14-11.

Following a penalty,  Magee fumbled on their on 55-yard line. Crystal Springs recovered the ball. On the very next play,  Chrystal Springs threw an interception on the 1-yard line. Trojans took over ending the first quarter.

Second quarter Magee drove the ball 99-yards on this possession.  #1 Josh Sanders scored on a 44-yard pass reception. The point after attempt was good. Magee took the lead by a score of 18-14. Trojans defense had a great series. Crystal Spring was faced with a 4th and 28 on their own 1-yard line. Crystal Springs punted to their 34-yard line where the Trojans took over.  Magee was unsuccessful finding the end zone and had to settle for another field goal. Magee on top 21-14.

On Magee’s next offensive possession, the Trojans went for the first down on 4th and 1. Magee picked up the first down but only to fumble on Crystal Springs 49-yard line losing  possession. With just seconds left on the board before halftime, #2 Chandler Pittman intercepted the ball running 90-yards for a touchdown and time expired. The point after attempt was good and Magee left for the locker room by a lead of 28-14.

Halftime was special with a retirement ceremony! Former Magee High School player #14 Harold Shaw’s  jersey was retired. Shaw was given a jersey. A sign was added to the back of the gym with his name, number and year graduated. Magee band performed their halftime show immediately following the ceremony.

In the third quarter, Magee received the opening kick off. Crystal Springs kicked the ball out of bounds. Following a penalty, Magee took possession on the 45-yard line. Magee scored on a 65-yard touchdown pass only to have the touchdown called back due to an illegal shift. Tigers took over. Magee had another good defensive stop facing 4th and 18 when the Trojans sacked the Tiger quarter back on Magee’s 35-yard line.

Fourth quarter the Tigers threaten the Trojans. Crystal Springs scored on an 18-yard run bringing the score 28-21. Magee was unsuccessful with the next possession and turned the ball over on possessions to Crystal Springs. After a punt by Crystal Springs, Magee threw an interception on their own 38-yard line. A Magee penalty gave Crystal Springs a first down on Magee’s 25-yard line. What looked to be the end for Magee,  an interception  by #15 Harris on the Magee 6-yard line. Again the unexpected would happen with only 2:22 left in regulation, Magee fumbled the ball on their on 35-yard line. Crystal Spring took  possession with great field advantage. Crystal Springs fumbled the ball .  #2 Chandler Pittman, did what he had done best all night, finding the end zone on a 60-yard touchdown run to seal the win for the Trojans. Final score was 34-21.

Magee will travel to McLaurin, Friday, October 26, 2018 to take on the Tigers in the last game of the season.

Magee has secured a second place playoff game, which will be held at home. The team the Trojans will play has yet to be determined.
