MooseFamily MooseDavidDelmas “Moose” Eubanks was shocked and surprised at the Sportsplex Tuesday night when he was recognized by the Parents Baseball Association and City of Magee for forty years of umpiring for the City Leagues of Magee.

Moose was here long before the Sportsplex…he was in the “dirt” of city park when Magee only had 2 or 3 fields…he was umpiring when sometimes we didn’t even have grass…Moose has been involved in the highs and lows of Magee baseball. He was behind the plate for the first group of district and state tournaments held in Magee. Mercy, he was here before Michael Dunn was even born…and a bunch of more young people!

Moose has watched boys come through the ranks of city league baseball and move on to play college balls. Just think, he saw kids began t-ball and eventually go off to college on a baseball scholarship!

The Parent Association presented Moose with a plaque and a “Rule” book…teasing him that maybe he needed to re-read the rules since he was getting so old!

Moose has given forty years of his life to the betterment of our baseball program. He has swiped that home plate when the plate was almost red dirt only.

What motivates a man to give this many years to a bunch of kids…it can’t just be love of the game….I believe the love for young people has driven Moose all these years…and hopefully he will be calling for forty more!

MageeNews.com congratulates you and your family…and we appreciate all you have done!
