JACKSON, MISS. – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) continues recovery efforts in South Mississippi following Hurricane Nate.

Crews are continuing efforts to remove all remaining sand and debris from U.S. Highway 90 along the Gulf Coast. All travel lanes are open and passable, but several signals remain in flash mode as crews continue making repairs.

“Motorists should be on high alert for roadside crews along U.S. Highway 90 as they work to get all signals repaired and clear the remaining sand,” said Transportation Commissioner Tom King. “Remember, when encountering a traffic signal in flash mode, it should be treated as a four-way stop.”

MDOT continues the following response efforts.

MDOT crews are continuing to clear sand from sections of U.S. Highway 90 between U.S. Highway 49 and Interstate 110. Motorists should be alert for roadside workers clearing remaining debris.
Several traffic signals along U.S. Highway 90 remain in flash mode as electrical crews continue making repairs. Until fully restored, these intersections should be treated as four-way stops.
Power issues on the I-110 drawbridge have been repaired. The drawbridge is currently functioning properly.
Crews are in the process of raising high-mast lighting systems that were lowered before the storm.
