Lowell Edwin Meadow Sr, 82, passed away on July 15, 2025, into the loving arms of Jesus. Edwin was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Enoch and Earlean Meadows. He met the love of his life, Cheryl Byrd, in 1965, and they were married for sixty wonderful years together.
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Earlean Meadows; his daughter, Candy Failor; his son-in-law, Scott; and his sister, Joan Williams.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Cheryl Meadows, and son, Ed Meadows, and daughter-in-law, Pam Meadows; sister, Glynda Bassett; grandchildren, Naomi Mathes (Avery), Ben Meadows (Ashton), and Justin Crawford; and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Landon Mathes, and Henry Meadows.
Edwin was a lover of Jesus and a lover of the best music in the world. Southern Gospel Music. Edwin was born into a family of talented singers and musicians on both the Prestwood and Meadows sides. He sang with his family and soon landed a baritone spot with a group called the “Deep South Boys Quartet.” Edwin was known as having one of the smoothest baritone voices in the Southern Gospel industry. After working in the food industry for years, he joined forces with his son, Ed Meadows, and formed a company called M&M Gutter Company. Father and Son worked together for 20 years, making new friends all over Central MS.
Edwin and family were long-time members of Antioch Baptist Church in Pearl, MS, before serving as Music Director at Trinity Baptist in Florence, MS, where they had lived since the early 1970s.
Edwin and Cheryl moved to Simpson County in 1999 to live near their two children. “Dad said to Referee,” they recalled.
Edwin was a member of Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee, MS, along with his family. Edwin loved living on the small farm with his family. He always said, “ We are here if y’all need us!” Edwin will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was loved by whoever he met. His laughter, wise jokes, and his love for family and friends will be missed.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Goodwater Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. Bro. Jason Webb will officiate the service.
Tutor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
