Dennis Ray White, 74, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, September 20, 2025, at his home in Harrisville, Mississippi, surrounded by family.

Born June 13, 1951, Dennis was known for his directness, humor and deep love of family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Reece White and Martha Shorter White, and a great-nephew, Bryce Humphrey.   Reared in Harrisville, he attended Harrisville School graduating in 1970.  He served six years in the Mississippi Army National Guard, being honorably discharged in 1976.

Dennis made his living as a sheet metal contractor, beginning with Sheet Metal Local 406 in Jackson.  For most of his career he owned and operated D’Lo Mechanical with his longtime partner and friend Jimmy Cowart. Ultimately, he joined J.L Roberts Mechanical from where he retired in 2013.

A devoted father, he spent much time through the years with foxhounds and barrel-racing horses, the pastime of his son and daughter.  As a proud grandfather, he helped build barns, stables, and pens for his grandchildren’s horses, goats, and chickens as he was their biggest cheerleader through their various 4-H activities.

Dennis was happiest hosting family gatherings at his home where every card game imaginable would be played, particularly Texas Hold’em.  These gatherings were always overflowing with both food and laughter with Dennis providing most of the entertainment.

Dennis leaves behind a legacy marked by loyalty, devotion, and love.

He is survived by his best friend, Becky Hard; son, Brad White (Colby);  daughter, Lacy Varner (Lance); granddaughter, Layton Varner; grandsons, Landry Varner, Barrett Kimmel, and Jack Kimmel; brothers, Larry White (Audrea) and Roger White (Diane); aunt, Pat White; nephew, Tally White; nieces, Stacy Garner (William) and Kendra Humphrey (Adam); and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be a visitation from 5pm-8pm Tuesday, September 23rd and a funeral service at 10am Wednesday, September 24th, both at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall.  Dennis will be buried near his parents in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Braxton.  Rev Gary White will officiate the service.

Pallbearers are Tally White, William Garner, Adam Humphrey, Tyler White, Jake White, Cooper White, Trey Fortenberry, and BJ Hard.  Honorary pallbearers are Gary Nichols, Mike Benton, Pete Lowery, and Eric Bowen.
