God is a Gentleman!
I watched the second installment of AD Sunday night and noticed how Jesus appeared to the disciples in the upper room. He didn’t knock or enter through the door, He simply appeared! This was part of God’s plan to spread the gospel and prove that death had been conquered by His Son. The disciples needed to see him to know He had arisen! That would be an awesome thing to experience!
As a child, I remember a picture of a drawing on the wall of our Sunday school room that showed a man, Jesus, standing at a door and knocking. Long ago, Daddy preached from Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with me.” He talked about that picture that was very popular at that time. He explained that the door had no exterior handle, so it could only be opened from within. He would not enter unless the occupant opened the door. God only enters our lives when he is invited! He will not barge into our lives and take control. He will not force himself on anyone. He will not move into our lives, dictate our actions, our thoughts, or our beliefs. It would be so simple if He would!! But God is a gentleman!!! He will only take control of our lives when we freely yield it to Him! We are proud people and we are not very good at submission and humility! So why do we question God when evil seems to rule a majority of the world? Why is my life a mess? Why am I unhappy? Why am I in this bad situation? The answer is in the mirror!
