On this part of this series, I, Ian Cowart, want to focus on Magee Chamber of Commerce Board of Director, Joey Adcock.
Just like Jacob, this is Joey’s last year as a Chamber of Commerce Board of Director. Joey has served a full 3 year term, and will roll off at the annual meeting on March 6th, 2018.
There is a lot I can say about Mr. Joey. The first thing I would like to mention is his dedication to the Chamber. Joey has served at every chamber hosted event and has only missed 1 board meeting due to a work obligation. Joey didn’t just serve at our events, he showed up and worked his tail off. One specific event that sticks out in my head was his servitude to the “Mr. and Mrs. Crazy Day Pageant”. If it was not for Joey, we would have never been able to figure out the sound and mic system. We would have been handcuffed and fighting an angry mob if it was not for him.
Joey did far more for the chamber this year than saving our skins on a sound system. Joey has added more than valuable input to every single meeting. I appreciate all the creative ideas he was able to bring to the table. Some of Joey’s biggest ideas shared were focused around giving back to the membership. He also made sure we stayed on mission with keeping Magee first and shopping local.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Joey. Mr. Adcock’s heart and passion for Magee business has been an inspiration to me. One thing I have come to appreciate is my wife and I have gained 2 new best friends in Joey’s son and daughter in law, Jasper and Helena Adcock. We would have never met if it were not for Joey. I would also say that Joey and I have gained a terrific friendship out of this as well. No matter what issue took place, I knew I could rely on Joey to give it to me straight and in a way that would be constructive.
I can only pray when Joey rolls off this year, that we gain someone just like him. I have come to truly rely on Joey’s sage council in the chamber. Anytime there was work to be done, Joey was always there asking, “How can I help? It wouldn’t be a bad thing if the world had more people like Joey Adcock. The Chamber and City of Magee truly benefit from people who are willing to give back so much like him.
Joey runs his own business, “4sunz Sports and Graphic” located on our beloved Downtown Magee. Not only does Joey give back to our community with his free time, but through his business as well. Joey is plugged into our schools providing uniforms, trophies, equipment, and anything that his services can provide. The City of Magee is truly lucky to have such a humble servant leader and business man like Joey Adcock. I truly hope to see Joey in more leadership roles in our City.
Thank you Joey for all that you do for the Chamber and City of Magee.
