On this part of this series, I, Ian Cowart, want to focus on Magee Chamber of Commerce Board of Director, Kannan Stubbs.
This is Kannan’s third year to serve as a Board of Director for the Magee Chamber of Commerce. Just like Jacob and Joey, Kannan will rotate off the board after the annual meeting on March 6th.
Kannan’s servitude to the Chamber this year has been exceptional. I say this because Kannan’s career as an attorney tends to keep him pretty busy. The fact that Kannan, despite his profession, can still contribute in any capacity, astonishes me. Every time Kannan and I speak on the phone, he is either going to or coming from court or other legal duties. Even though his schedule is very demanding, Kannan always make himself available to help and serve the Chamber.
The one quality that sticks out about Kannan is his willingness to help. During our discussion meetings regarding our special projects and events, Kannan is one of the first ones to volunteer. Kannan had probably one of the most important yet vexing jobs at Crazy Day, parking. Kannan was in charge of making sure every vendor was able to get their cars, trucks, and trailers parked and out of the way of the event. If you’ve never been a part of the Chamber’s 4:30 am Crazy Day madness, getting everyone’s vehicle where they need to go is crucial to controlling the chaos. Kannan was able to keeps things under control and was a huge help that morning.
Kannan has been a great asset to the Chamber Board of Directors this year. Kannan has volunteered not only his time, but his council as well. If there was ever an area I was unsure of, Kannan would always advise me on the best course of action. Kannan also assisted the board in adding language to our by-laws to help us stay on target with keeping Magee first. Without Kannan, the board would not have been able accomplish this.
When I first met Kannan, I thought we was very reserved person. The more I’ve gotten to know him, the more I’ve come to learn that he truly loves giving back to his community. Stubbs Law Firm is a valued member of Magee’s downtown businesses. Since he had vested interest, Kannan’s input was greatly valued when we first started brainstorming ideas for “Project Downtown”. Although Kannan is rolling off the board this year, I know that he will continue to give back to Magee in whatever way he can.
Thank you Kannan for all that you do for the Chamber and the City of Magee.
