Vernia B. Waters Norris, 90, of Mt. Olive, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee, Mississippi. She was born Monday, April 28, 1930, in Simpson County.
Graveside Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive. The burial will follow in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jon Neal will officiate.
Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031
Mrs. Norris was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Mt. Olive. She and her late husband moved back to their homestead in 1956. She lived at her home place until 2010. She was a full-time homemaker and a Godly woman who raised all her five kids to love God and country.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil H. Norris; parents, Eddie Waters and Ida B. Puckett Waters; one brother, Howard Waters; and one sister, Mildred Waters Shows.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony Norris and wife, Jan of Braxton and Danny Norris of Mt. Olive; three daughters, Jerrie Lynn Norris Chance and husband, Frank of Star, Janice Norris Ashley and husband, John W. of Mt. Olive and Teresa Ann Norris Clanton of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Chance, Angela Norris, Michael Norris, Wesley Norris, Deidra Biglane, Ike Clanton, Crystal Clanton Glenn, and David Bradley Hall; twelve great- grandchild; two sisters, Maxine Waters Stewart of Mendenhall and Sara Ann Waters Hughes of Covington Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Danny Norris, Wesley Norris, Ike Clanton, and Michael Norris.
