Trojans Close Regular Season With Wins

Magee High School closed the regular season of play with wins. The Trojans had wins Monday, April 16, 2018 against Kosciusko and Tuesday, April 17, 2018 against Mendenhall.

Saturday, Magee played Kosciusko in a low scoring game. Trojans won by a score of 3-2. Magee scored in the second inning when Dalton Cockrell doubled on the first pitch at bat.

Hobbs was on the mound for the Trojans. Hobbs lasted 7 innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out three and walking one. Caleb Brown went three for three at the plate to lead Magee in hits.

Monday night was senior night and all three seniors, Dalton Cockrell, Aimon Chisholm, and Jaden Chatman were honored. Trojans sported camouflage uniforms.

Tuesday, Magee traveled to Mendenhall to play their arch rivals in the last game of regular season play. Magee was victorious in a come from behind win with a score of 9-8.

Trojans trailed 8-6 in the top of the seventh inning when Seth Russell homered on a 2-1 count scoring three runs.

Mendenhall scored six runs in the third inning, but Magee still managed to seize the victory. The offensive firepower of Mendenhall was led by Bobo Walker., Dee Newsome, Austin Jones, and Zadarious Ducksworth, who all drove in runs. In the first inning, Mendenhall scored first when Walker grounded out scoring one run.

Magee tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Timon Kennedy,Josh Sanders, and Mason Booth all drove in runs.

Aimon Chisholm was the starting pitcher of r the Trojans. He surrender 7 runs, on three hits over two and a third inning, striking out one.

Magee had two home runs on the evening. One by Seth Russell in the seventh and one by Timon Kennedy in the fifth.

Magee had 10 hits on the day. Kennedy, Dalton Cockrell, Zack Teater, and Chandler Pittman each collected multiple hits. Pittman, Teater, Cockrell, and Kenendy each gathered two hits to lead Magee in hits.

Congratulations to Coach Eubanks and his athletes on a great season!  Playoff’s start Friday, April 20, 2018 at home against Hazelhurst. Magee will travel to Hazelhurst Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The series is the best of three games. Teams must win series to continue play. Best of luck to the Trojans in playoffs.
