Even though the 2022 softball and baseball seasons kicked off on February 12, our Trojans and Lady Trojans played their first home games this weekend.
The Magee Lady Trojans Softball Team is being led by Coach Glenn Smith, his first year at the helm. After losing twice at the Puckett Tournament on Feb. 12, Coach Smith knew there was room for improvement. Working hard at practice from Monday to Wednesday, the Lady Trojans worked on depending on one another as a team and building up each other. This work showed off Friday night, as they snuffed out the Forest Bearcats 20-3 in the 3rd inning.
The next home game for the Lady Trojans is March 1 as they line up against the Bay Springs Lady Bulldogs. Junior Varsity plays at 5:30, Varsity at 6:30. Come out and support the Ladies.
The Magee Trojans Baseball team also showed signs of hope Saturday after their two losses on the 12th as well. Despite falling to Simpson Academy, the guys didn’t show signs of giving in easily as they trailed the Cougars 11-13. The Trojans have played strong, especially the past 4 seasons, making several state playoff appearances. They are led again by longtime head coach Allen Eubanks.
The Trojans play at home Monday February 21, vs. the Mendenhall Tigers at 7:00pm. Come support the guys as they search for their first win of the 2022 season.
