Jackson, MS. Treasurer Lynn Fitch is pleased to welcome Renasant Bank of Tupelo as a new partner in her TEAM, or Treasurer’s Education About Money, initiative. The Treasurer established TEAM as a public-private partnership to bring financial education into Mississippi schools at no cost to the schools, teachers, or students. It is supported by generous contributions from partners like the Mississippi Council on Economic Education (MCEE), Ever-Fi, and several financial institutions and community organizations across the State.

“I want to thank Renasant Bank for joining my TEAM financial education initiative,” said Treasurer Fitch. “TEAM has helped nearly 50,000 Mississippi students gain the critical life skills they need to succeed. Renasant is demonstrating a true commitment to these children and to our State by investing in financial education.”
“Building a strong financial foundation and educating our children on making smart decisions is critically important for the future of our state,” said Renasant’s Director of Corporate Communication, John Oxford. “We are proud to participate in the Treasurer’s program to help provide financial education to Mississippi’s schools.”
In just its first two years, TEAM has brought interactive financial education resources created by the nationally-recognized Ever-Fi to over 300 high and middle schools in 71 Mississippi counties. Over 48,000 students have participated for more than 163,000 combined learning hours. Assessments indicate an average improvement in financial awareness of 91-92% for these students. Additionally, through MCEE, more than 800 teachers have been trained in personal finance education.

“In partnership with Treasurer Fitch, EverFi and Renasant, we are making significant strides forward in the financial literacy of our youth,” said MCEE President Selena Swartzfager. “MCEE is calling on 14 years of proven success in teacher professional development to be a worthy partner in this initiative. What we have to offer would not be possible without the support of Renasant. As a result of this support, MCEE will continue to increase economic and financial literacy in Mississippi by providing resources and training to public and private K-12 school teachers, empowering students to create a more prosperous future for themselves and Mississippi.”
