The New Year: A Time for Change and New Goals

December 27, 2025

Not all memories are good memories!  The morning that First Baptist Church of Magee caught fire is a time I will never forget.

I heard about the fire on my scanner…and hit the floor running. I arrived at the church about the same time as the Fire Department.

As I watched those flames, I got sick at my stomach.  I have been a member of FBC all my life…as a baby…I was in that church.  The memories flooded my mind.

As I watched those firemen work a miracle, the fire was gotten under control…and the sanctuary was saved…the stained-glass windows did not “blow out.”  Fire chief Lane took me into the church to see first-hand the damage.

The road was tough…but our church is “refreshed” and safer …built to code!!! Ha

Thank you for the memories…thank you for allowing me to remember the last 10 years as we celebrate our anniversary through the month of March.
