Simpson County Technical Center Construction/ Carpentry and Metal Fabrication students visit Ingall’s Apprentice School in Pascagoula on October 5, 2018. Ingalls Shipbuilding is one of the largest employers on the Gulf Coast. It is recognized as the backbone of a well-trained workforce. Every effort is made to provide each apprentice with opportunities to learn all the phases of a selected craft. This is done by job rotation, a system that allows the apprentice to perform in the various job assignments within the particular craft.

Ingall’s Shipbuilding Apprentices earn competitive wages and receive comprehensive benefits packages from the time they begin the Apprentice Program. Ingall’s apprentice programs range in length from two to four years of instruction and hands-on development. This allows apprentices to receive an education, build work ethic, gain experience, and develop into world-class journeymen of their craft.

The Pascagoula shipyard will soon be hiring over 500 new employees to fill several openings, including test engineers, welders, pipefitters, and shipfitters to ramp up production on numerous ships under contract or construction. Students were informed that working at Ingalls isn’t just a job. It’s your chance to serve our nation with your unique skills in some of the most challenging work you’ll ever do.
