The halls of the Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) in Mendenhall were alive with excitement as students recently gathered for Career Day—an event designed to open doors and spark ideas about life beyond the classroom.
Students from across Simpson County, including Magee High School, Mendenhall High School, Simpson Academy, and homeschool groups, filled the building with curiosity and anticipation. As they moved from table to table, they had the opportunity to meet representatives from colleges, technical programs, and a wide range of local and regional businesses.
Career Day at SCTC is more than just an event—it’s an experience. Students were able to ask questions, explore career paths, and get a firsthand look at the opportunities available to them after graduation. Whether interested in continuing their education or entering the workforce, students gained valuable insight into what their future could hold.
Located at 3415 Simpson Highway 49 in Mendenhall, the Simpson County Technical Center serves students in grades 9–12 as part of the Simpson County School District. The center’s mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that prepare students for real-world success.
SCTC offers a variety of hands-on programs designed to equip students with practical skills. These include automotive technology, business technology, construction technology, and health sciences—fields that are not only in demand but essential to the growth of our local communities.
One of the most important aspects of SCTC is its focus on hands-on learning. Students don’t just read about careers—they experience them. This approach allows students to build confidence, develop technical skills, and gain a clearer understanding of their interests and abilities.
Career Day perfectly reflects that mission. By bringing education and industry together under one roof, SCTC continues to create meaningful connections that benefit both students and the community.
Events like this remind us that the future is bright in Simpson County. With opportunities like those offered at the Technical Center, our students are not just preparing for jobs—they are preparing for successful, fulfilling lives.
