The Simpson County School District is awarding scholarships for students to take dual credit courses.  Priority will be given to scholarship applicants who qualify for free or reduced lunch.  Once a completed application is submitted online, scholarships will be granted based on a first come, first serve basis if the applicant meets the requirements for dual credit enrollment and the board policy requirements (free or reduced lunch status).  Scholarships will be awarded based on enrollment in one of the following courses:  College Algebra, English Composition I, English Composition II, World Civilization I, World Civilization II, Public Speaking, Music Appreciation, and Art Appreciation.  Scholarships will be awarded for one dual credit course per student per semester unless there is more funding available.
Parent, custodian or legal guardian will be held responsible for reimbursing the district if the student withdraws from the course or has an unsuccessful completion in the course (D or F).
Scholarships will include the cost of tuition, VCC fee, and ebook.  All other expenses are the responsibility of the parent, custodian or legal guardian.  Simpson County School District will award scholarships to the post-secondary institution and not the parent, custodian or legal guardian.
NOTE:  If you have an outstanding balance at Copiah Lincoln Community College, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
Application opens 8 am August 3, 2020 and closes 5 pm August 5th.
Computer labs will be available, Masks are required and hand sanitizer will be provided.
