There are moments in this job when I stop, smile, and think, “This is what it’s all about.” Seeing students boldly love the Lord and profess His goodness — not just on Sunday, not just at church events, but every single day — is medicine for the soul.

And if you know me, you know I can’t talk about Christian athletics in Simpson County without mentioning one of my all-time favorite people, Bill Broahead. Because of his leadership and love for the Lord, our students have a platform through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to proclaim the power of Jesus Christ right in the middle of their schools, locker rooms, gyms, and communities.

Who We Are

FCA is more than a club — it’s a community committed to seeing the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

Why We Do It

The heartbeat of FCA is simple: to see every coach and athlete grow in a personal, thriving relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

What We Do

FCA works to make disciples by engaging, equipping, and empowering young people and their mentors to know Christ deeply and lead others toward Him.

On Monday, November 17, 2025, students from Magee High School, Mendenhall High School, and Simpson Academy dropped by MageeNews and absolutely made my day.

Leadership team members:

  • Kayli Smith and Lauryn McRaney – Mendenhall High

  • Chase Adcock – Simpson Academy

  • Gervin Garcia – Magee High

These students lit up the room as they shared what FCA looks like across Simpson County. Weekly devotionals on GroupMe… bi-monthly leadership meetings… learning how to witness to classmates… 60-second testimony videos… early morning huddles.  FCA is alive and well — and growing.

As I spoke with each student, I couldn’t help but feel grateful. Their love for Jesus is strong. Their desire to share His love with their classmates is sincere. And their commitment to walking out their faith — especially in today’s world — is nothing short of inspiring.

Take a moment to watch the video.
Let their words bless you like they blessed me.

You’ll walk away with a heart full of gratitude — I know I did.
