The Simpson County School District is awarding scholarships for students to take dual credit courses.  Priority will be given to scholarship applicants who qualify for free or reduced lunch.  Once a completed application is submitted online, scholarships will be granted based on a first come, first serve basis if the applicant meets the requirements for dual credit enrollment and the board policy requirements (free or reduced lunch status).  Scholarships will be awarded based on enrollment in one of the following courses:  College Algebra, English Composition I, English Composition II, World Civilization I, World Civilization II, Public Speaking, Music Appreciation, and Art Appreciation.  Scholarships will be awarded for one dual credit course per student per semester unless there is more funding available.
Parent, custodian or legal guardian will be held responsible for reimbursing the district if the student withdraws from the course or has an unsuccessful completion in the course (D or F).
Scholarships will include the cost of tuition, VCC fee, and ebook.  All other expenses are the responsibility of the parent, custodian or legal guardian.  Simpson County School District will award scholarships to the post-secondary institution and not the parent, custodian or legal guardian.
NOTE:  If you have an outstanding balance at Copiah Lincoln Community College, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
Application opens 8 am August 3, 2020 and closes 5 pm August 5th.
Computer labs will be available, Masks are required and hand sanitizer will be provided.

Patrice is married to Greg Boykin and they have two sons, Bradley & Alex Boykin. Patrice is a lifetime resident of Simpson County. Patrice retired after 25 years in the Insurance industry where 23 of those years were with State Farm Insurance in Magee. She is very active in the community and has served in several leadership roles. Patrice has been a Secretary for the Magee Touchdown Club for 19 years and President of the MS Scholars of Simpson County. Patrice was a member of the Magee Adopt A School Program. She was elected to a term on the Simpson County School Board. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Magee Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Keep Magee Beautiful Committee and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Simpson County Technical Center. Patrice is a member of the Simpson County Republican Executive Committee. Multiple times, Patrice was named Parent of the Year for Magee Schools as well as District Parent of the Year for the Simpson County School District. Patrice & her family are members of New Hope Baptist Church.
