“What’s intriguing is that my faith in God allowed my writings to become a published book to share with the world. It obviously is a miracle of God,” writes Simpson County School District’s newest author, Nathaniel Little.

Little, an eighth-grade student at Simpson Central School (SCS), recently released his first book titled “God Writes Through Me: Inspirational Messages of Love, Hope and Joy.” A collection of inspirational stories, thoughts and messages written for teenagers, Little said he felt compelled to write this particular book to lead more teens — and people of all ages — to God.

“I feel excited because I know that I am able to spread the love and the message of Jesus to everybody,” said Little. “I felt we needed more teenagers in the kingdom of God, so we can be the generation that is able to take the work and continue the work that our elders have already done.”

Little’s journey to becoming an author began two years ago after family friend Debra August noticed his love for writing and mentioned it to her longtime friend, author, and publisher Jacqueline Hayes, who proclaimed that he “could even be an author one day.” Encouraged by both ladies to record his daily adventures, Little began journaling in October 2022, ultimately leading to the creation of his first book today.

“I pray that this book is able to reach people and that it puts a good effect on their life. Maybe even more people will come to Christ through this book,” said Little.

As of now, Little is selling his book by word of mouth but noted there are plans to host a book signing at the Shivers Creek Catfish House, and possibly the school library, in the near future.

SCS Assistant Principal Bill Broadhead said he hopes Little’s accomplishment can inspire other students his age and move them to achieve their own personal goals.

“Nathaniel is a top-shelf guy. We are so excited that he is one of our students,” said Broadhead. “As an ambassador for our school, we know that he is going to do a good job and reflect good upon Simpson Central School and Simpson County School District.”

At SCS, Little is a distinguished honor student, member of the Future Business Leaders of America, and president of the Beta Club. He also holds a state-level position in the Mississippi Beta Club as junior secretary. Outside of SCS, he is a member of First Pentecostal Church of Mendenhall, where he assists in worship services through singing, helping with the media, and by completing any other tasks requested of him.
