JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Farmers Market will host the annual Mississippi Peanut Boil on Saturday, September 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Market will feature complimentary bags of boiled peanuts from Rogers Farms in Collins, while supplies last. Vendors will also offer various peanut treats.

“If you’re one of the thousands of Mississippians coming to downtown Jackson this Saturday for the annual Mississippi Book Festival, or you’re looking for a tasty treat or healthy produce, swing by the Mississippi Farmers Market for our annual Mississippi Peanut Boil. This time of year is just right for some fresh, Mississippi-grown peanuts, boiled to perfection,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson. “We appreciate the Mississippi Peanut Growers Association and Rogers Farm for their participation in this annual event. With a variety of local farm vendors, the Genuine MS® Store and approximately five hundred pounds of boiled peanuts, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this year’s Mississippi Peanut Boil.”

In addition to complimentary boiled peanuts, shoppers will find the usual variety of meat and dairy products; coffee; jams and jellies; breads and other baked goods; seasonal produce; flowers and plants; handcrafted items and more available for purchase.

The Farmers Market Café, located inside of the Mississippi Farmers Market, is open 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every weekday and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday. For daily menu schedules, visit the Farmers Market Café on Facebook. The Genuine MS® Store, also located inside the Mississippi Farmers Market, is open 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday.

The Mississippi Farmers Market, a division of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, is open 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday.
