Kenneth E. Smith, 94, of Mount Olive, Mississippi, passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at his home. He was born Sunday, April 10, 1927, in Sontag, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi, and on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at New Hope Baptist Church, Mt. Olive, Mississippi.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. The burial will follow in McNair Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Arender will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

Mr. Smith was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend.  He served our country in the United States Army.  He enjoyed spending time in his garden and working on his tractors and farm, and most of all spending time with his family.  After serving in the army, he worked twenty-nine years on the pipeline as a Boom Operator and then thirty-one years as a Manager of New Hope Water System.  He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Johnson Smith; parents, Fred Smith and Daisy Daughdrill Smith; one daughter, Patsy Ann Smith; two brothers, Slick Smith and Hobo Smith; and one great-grandson, River Olyn Ainsworth.

Survivors include his two loving children, Kenny Smith and wife, Sally, and Donna “Goat” Smith Ainsworth, both of Mt. Olive; four grandchildren, Brandy Smith Rushing and husband, David, Justin Smith, Daniel Ainsworth and wife, Addie and Cole Ainsworth all of Mt. Olive; five great-grandchildren, Austin Smith, Elizabeth Rushing, and Bella Ainsworth, all of Mt. Olive, Allison Garner and Joseph Ray both of D’Lo; one great-great-grandson, Jayden Garner, of D’Lo; one sister, Pat Smith Neal of Monticello; two sister-in-law’s, June Smith of Jayess, and Fleda Smith of Sontag, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Ainsworth, Cole Ainsworth, Austin Smith, David Rushing, Richard Johnson, and Robert Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Smith, Harold Ray Johnson, Donnie Smith, Jeff Smith, Bruce Smith, Bren Smith, and Jody Neal.
