 Valeria B. Sherman, 94, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She was born Monday, March 14, 1927, in Mendenhall, Mississippi.

            Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, Mississippi.

            Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Rials Creek Church Cemetery. Bro. Clint Gill and Bro. Ricky Reece will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. (601) 847-4401

            She was the oldest member of Rials Creek Church of Mendenhall, Mississippi.  She was very active in teaching Sunday school, Youth, and served on many committees.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She enjoyed traveling with bus tours all over the United States.  She and her husband would take their grandchildren to Talladega SuperSpeedway for over fifteen years.  They owned and operated Sherman’s Grocery on Hwy 13 south of Mendenhall for over twenty years. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Sherman; parents, Washington Boggan and Ethel May Boggan; and one brother, LA Boggan.

            Survivors include two loving children, Rusty Sherman and wife, Freda, of Mendenhall, and Dr. Janice Brien of Magee; special nephew, Vic Dickerson and wife, Carolyn, of Brandon; six grandchildren, Alicia Magee and husband Britt, of Mendenhall, Brandi Kennedy and husband, Randy, of Mendenhall, Dr. Andy Brien and wife, Courtney, of Flowood, Ben Brien and wife, Katie, of Faribault, MN, Patrick Brien and wife, Nicole, of Alpharetta, GA, Casey Barnard of Florence; eighteen great-grandchildren, Kylee, Alli, Maddi Brewer, Carlie, Buckley Magee, Ian, Aaron Batton, Timon (Ashton), Raelynn Kennedy, Ella Kate, Brooks, Mae Claire Brien, Abbe, Audrey Brien, Camp, Clara Brien, Addie Grace, Peyton Barnard; and a bunch of other family members and friends.

            Pallbearers will be Dr. Andy Brien, Ben Brien, Patrick Brien, Ian Batton, Aaron Batton, TK Kennedy, and Buckley Magee. Honorary pallbearers will be Camp Brien, Brooks Brien, and Peyton Barnard.
