PRESS RELEASE

Monday night August 24th Magee Officers responded to East Side Manor Apartments in reference to a man having been shot during a home invasion.  Upon arrival Officers found Corey Lofton with a gunshot wound to the upper left thigh area.  Lofton stated that someone knocked on his door and forced their way in as he opened it.  Lofton was shot while fighting 2 of the suspects in the living room.  Upon entry the 3rd suspect entered a bedroom and briefly assaulted Jasmine Brown as she slept.  Brown was not injured physically.  Lofton has been discharged from a Jackson Hospital and is at home.

Thanks to excellent surveillance video, witnesses, and citizen statements, 2 of the 3 suspects have been identified.  The investigation remains ongoing as Police seek the identities of the 3rd suspect and a 4th  suspect that drove the 3 suspects away from the Apartments and dropped them off nearby.

Wednesday morning August 26th Simpson County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted Magee Police Officers in arresting a suspect believed to be the shooter.  The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Lance McCullough of Mount Olive, MS.

As always, suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty
