HYDE-SMITH VOTES FOR BUDGET BLUEPRINT THAT IS KEY STEP TOWARD DELIVERING ON REPUBLICAN AGENDA

Senate Passes Budget Resolution that Would Lead to Extending 2017 Trump Tax Cuts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) early Saturday morning voted with the Senate to approve a FY2025 Budget Resolution that represents a key step toward delivering on a pro-growth Republican agenda and making President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent.

H.Con.Res.14, which originated in the House of Representatives and was amended by the Senate, establishes a budget blueprint of recommended spending, revenues targets, deficit reduction goals, and, importantly, serves as a vehicle to unlock the reconciliation process.  It is this process that will allow Republicans to procedurally fast-track consideration of Republican policy priorities, including saving American families and businesses from a tax hike by not allowing President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to expire this December.

“Passage of this budget resolution is another important step for setting the stage for the Senate and House to fast-track legislation to allow families and businesses to continue enjoying the benefits of President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts.  We cannot allow Democrats to succeed in letting those tax cuts expire in December, which would result in a $2.6 trillion tax increase on those making less than $400,000 a year, as well as a $600 billion tax increase on small businesses,” Hyde-Smith said.

“Just as important, this resolution is our key to forcing greater fiscal responsibility while also increasing our defense budget, making more investments to secure our border, and ensuring we remain energy dominant,” the Senator added.

The resolution, adopted 51-48, represents an ongoing process to work with the House of Representatives to produce the “one big, beautiful bill” sought by President Trump to deliver on a Republican agenda that delivers on cutting taxes, securing the border, funding the military, and ramping up U.S. energy production.

Why did you not vote to codify DOGE reform to make it more effective?
