Flora Louise Holder Padgett, 87, “Miss Louise”, met Jesus, face to face, when He called her to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020, in Jones County, Laurel, MS.  Miss Louise was born on Wednesday, August, 24th, 1932 in Jones County, Laurel, MS.  She was the second child born to Luke and Hortense Holder, having one older sister, Mildred (Mi Mi), and one younger brother, Howard (How Boo).

She graduated from High School in Laurel, MS where she enjoyed being a member of the ladies volley ball team. It was here that she met her high school sweetheart, Paul, and they married upon high school graduation in Jones County, Laurel, MS.  They had four children together, Paula, Pam, Patty, and Paul Jr.

Paul and Louise raised their family in Picayune, MS where they served through FBC, Picayune. Miss Louise served faithfully beside her husband in all his church ministries, and devoting herself to raising her four children. Picayune MS was always a beloved place because this is where her family’s life began.   In 1969, they followed God’s call to Magee, MS and moved their family to serve through FBC, Magee.

After devoting herself to raising her children, she later was able to rekindle her own heart’s desire, which was the field of nursing.  Miss Louise was able to direct this passion for health and wellness by becoming a Shaklee distributor. Her knowledge base of health and nutrition could have earned her a degree in this field.  She connected with this health and wellness lifestyle with her whole heart, and received great personal satisfaction in helping others on their wellness journey.

Her grand boys will always have precious memories of pallet parties with “Pap and Ma Maw” where swimming, watermelon, and chocolate Shaklee shakes were a summer time way of life.  A funny memory is customers waking her up at early hours of the morning because they were out of the popular supplement Herb Lax (go ahead and laugh if this is you)!

Miss Louise was a creative, (self-taught through necessity), seamstress and she used her artistic talents to not only clothe her children, but to build a small side business of making designs, t-shirt dresses, ceramics, etc., for all to enjoy. This was her creative outlet and she excelled at it!

In retirement, Miss Louise and Brother Paul were the best “Pap P.A. and Ma Maw Lou Lou” they could be, by investing in the lives of their grandsons and great grandsons.  Their legacy to them will be forever imprinted in their lives, and will surely be a part of their heavenly reward. Before health concerns became frequent, there was always laughter in their home, and that memory is unshakeable and priceless!

Ma Ma’s classic message in hard times, “This too shall pass”, will carry us through any future trials.

Miss Louise is survived by her three children, Pam Padgett, Magee, MS; Patty Poston (David), Broken Arrow, OK; Paul Padgett (Beverly), Hattiesburg, MS.; six grandsons, Evan Handley (Brittney), Louisville, KY; Seth Handley, Edmond, OK; Corey Onder, Broken Arrow, OK; Jacob Padgett, Magee, MS; Jared Padgett, Hattiesburg, MS; Michael Paul Meadows (Jennifer), Mize, MS; and, two great grandsons, Kannon and Kade Meadows, Mize, MS.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Paul E. Padgett; her oldest daughter, Paula Louise Padgett Meadows; her brother, Howard Holder; and, her parents Luke and Hortense Holder.

Graveside Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee, MS.  Dr. Jim Taylor will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

Memorial donations can be made to the music ministry at FBC, Magee, MS.

The family thanks the public for following the COVID-19 restrictions in place.
