Senator Cindy Hyde Smith attended the August 27, 2019 Council of Governments meeting held at Zip’s Restaurant.  The Council of Governments is made up of elected officials in Simpson County and media.

Hyde-Smith discussed several issues important to our area.  Cindy stressed the importance of rural health care.   She explained that we need less federal and more local government making decisions about our people.

“We are where we need to be on gun control,” stated Hyde-Smith.  9-11 and the Oklahoma City bombing caused a huge loss of lives in the United States and not one gun was fired.  “We need to look at the shooter and not the gun,” explained Cindy.  Mental health is an issue that must be addressed in our nation.
