Road Manager Jeremy Bolton presented the monthly road department report. The board approved a motion to accept the February road report and also approved adding extended warranties to the county motor grader and two backhoes.

Bolton also reported that chip seal road work will begin once rock supplies are delivered and warmer weather arrives, marking the start of the county’s seasonal road maintenance program.

The following road projects were presented and passed:  Old River Road, James Berry Road (road work and stripping), and Poplar Springs Road continued.

Sheriff Paul Mullins presented the department report. The board approved the hiring of Nora Jones as a part-time dispatcher at a rate of $12.50 per hour. Jones will attend the 40-hour Basic IAED certification class March 30 through April 3 in Meridian at no cost to the county.

The board also approved Chris Wallace to attend the Mississippi Fire Investigators Association Spring Seminar in Oxford April 15–17. The cost of the seminar will be $250 plus hotel and meals.

John Kilpatrick reported that the countywide burn ban will end Tuesday, March 17, 2026, allowing residents to resume outdoor burning activities under normal guidelines.
