I attended the Council of Governments meeting Tuesday morning at Zips because I am a member of the media.  The majority in attendance are  elected official in our county.

I appreciated Cindy taking time during her “vacation” (which she says is a joke she works during the entire recess visiting around the state) to talk to Simpson County folks.

I was very interested in her stance on gun control.  With the recent shootings, I think everyone is looking at gun control differently.  Cindy explained that our gun laws are solid and should not be changed.  One thing that interested me is she pointed out how 9-11 and the Oklahoma Court House bombing took many many lives but not one gun was shot.  Like Cindy, look at the shooter which usually comes back to mental issues. With that being said, what are we doing in our state and county to address the issues of the mentally ill?  Every time the legislature meets, mental health is usually cut.  Every time I read or see on TV another shooting in Jackson, usually the shooter is mental ill or just plain mean.  How do we watch for this in our schools and address the issue?

Making a Difference — One Brush at a Time!

Making a Difference — One Brush at a Time!

Being a woman Senator can’t be easy.  Heck, being a Senator can’t be easy.  People are nuts…she told of the necessity to be surrounded by people to keep her safe.

She is a Trump supporter.  Almost everything she talked about always came back to her support of Trump.  She spoke highly of his family and especially his children.  I do think she thinks he may tweet too much!

Cindy explained that the cameras streaming live in any meeting is often acting as a “stage” for the congressmen to impress their constituents.  I guess she is saying some people think the louder the better and the crazier the better!  I thought this was an interesting point.  Do you think live streaming should be allowed in Senate and House meetings?  I believe in transparency.  If we remove the cameras would we ever really know the truth of what is going on in meetings?

One thing for sure, Cindy Hyde-Smith loves Mississippi!  No one can doubt that!

The prez says!
