SCSD Teachers and Staff Return to School
Simpson County School District returned to school Monday, July 26, 2021.
All employees of Simpson County School District met at the Magee High School Auditorium for Convocation.
Numerous new faces are present within the district. New leaders, teachers and support staff. Each one is welcomed and SCSD is proud to have them as a part of their educational team.
Special guest and board members were recognized. Board President Danny Cowart spoke and acknowledged SCSD is competing for children! The district has seen a drop in attendance over the past years from approximately 4500 students to 3500.
Fun and enjoyment was held with a spirit competition between the schools. Each school demonstrated a form to sprit to pump those in attendance!
Mendenhall Elementary stole the show and were on fire! Dressed like fire fighters and one twirling a fire baton to the son “FIRE”.
Magee Elementary brought a REVIVAL!
Simpson Central Showed they still had moves!
Mendenhall Middle School cheered for their school!
Magee Middle Welcomed Everyone!
Mendenhall High School showed they were READY!
Magee High brought the spirit with the cheerleaders, band and staff.
Simpson County Technical Center were moving to the music of the YMCA dressed in each ones career path program of study.
And finally, The Achievement center were pumped with their principal Coach Luckey Cheering WE WILL WIN!
The highlight was when some administrative staff took part in the fun and entertained all in attendance. A great time was held by all during the spirit competition.
After all the competition was finished Mendenhall elementary took home the trophy!
After fun and games it was time to get serious and focus on the children. If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our students of tomorrow – John Deway. Dr. Toriano Holloway challenged the staff to “change their way of thinking.” Holloway asked each one to commit to the kids! As long as we turn and stay with the mission statement – Believe, Achieve and succeed each day this school year will be successful.
Holloway encouraged each staff to start each day with I can, I shall and I will.
School will begin for students Wednesday, July 28, 2021.
