In January of 2021, I wrote an article entitled  “I Have a Dream.”  My dream was to see the old (unsure of date 1942-1946) fire truck restored and available for all to enjoy.

The Fire Department, Main Street Magee, citizens, business, and others joined forces to see the dream come true.

A special thanks to Main Street Magee!  Tiffany and Lee were instrumental in my “dream.”

Much discussion was held concerning the restoration.  I think most of us envisioned a “shinny” truck.  Under the direction of the

The Rankin (Rankin Body Shop) family and the MFD made a decision not to repaint, but to protect.   Great decision!  The

truck has been housed for the last few weeks at Rankin Body Shop.  I can see the dream every day out my front door!

Thursday, October 23, 2025, I paid the family and truck a visit.  Oh my goodness…what a beauty.  Who needs shine!

The Rankins are completing the body restoration.  It’s strange to stand in the presence of something so old and loved by so many.

My daddy, F. J. Dickey (always called Dickey) was the Fire chief for many, many years and was instrumental in obtaining the truck.

(From what I am told, the truck was not purchased new—but it was Magee’s first firetruck!)

When other renovations are complete, the truck will be on display at the 5-way stop on Main Street.

(What a great place to make pictures!)

Landscaping around the truck is also part of the plans.

Now, just let me tell you, I love those Rankin guys and wives!  All have such a servant’s heart.  The team restored the truck at no charge.

Be watching…coming soon to Main Street Magee—

The plaque on the truck identifies the City officials when the truck was purchased.

Plans are to recover the seat.  The truck will not be operational.
