The Mississippi College women’s soccer coaching staff was selected as Regional Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches, it was announced Tuesday Nov. 27.

The Lady Choctaw staff, comprised of head coach Darryl Longabaugh, associate head coach Adam Johnson and assistants Jorge Alvarez, Serge Lipovetsky and Sayit Mejia Bellow, was voted Staff of the Year by their peers in the NCAA South Region. Due to their selection, MC’s staff will be entered into the National Staff of the Year ballot with the winner of that being announced on Dec. 14th.

“I have a great staff,” Head Coach Darryl Longabaugh said. “I really appreciate all the hard work that my staff does getting these girls ready to succeed on and off the field. The support we get from the administration is great and we’ve been able to build a successful program because of it.”

The Lady Choctaws made history for the second season in a row as they earned the program’s second birth in the NCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship Tournament. Coach Longabaugh’s team reached the Sweet Sixteen of the tournament for the first time ever and finished the year with a 16-4-0 record. The Lady Choctaws will look to continue their program success off the field in the classroom and recruiting until they take the pitch next season in 2019.
