GOODMAN – The Co-Lin Baseball team took to the road to face off against Holmes and Mississippi Delta on Tuesday, February 15. The Wolves split the doubleheader as they dropped their first game against Holmes, 3-1, and beat Mississippi Delta in game two, 11-1.

Game One

The game between the Bulldogs and Wolves was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Wolves plated their only run of the game as Kenner Bizot (Wesson) hit a lead-off double and then scored as Tom Biggs (Columbia, La.) doubled giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

The lead was short lived though as the Bulldogs plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead and then increased their lead to 3-1 with a single run in the bottom of the sixth. The Bulldogs eliminated potential scoring threats by the Wolves in both the sixth and seventh innings to secure the 3-1 win.

Kade Parker, Kenner Bizot, Harrison Mohead (Madison), and Noah Freeman (Mendenhall) all went 1-for-2 at the plate with Bizot hitting a double while Tom Biggs went 1-for-3 with one RBI and one double.

Jacob Spinks (Jonesville, La.) got the start and pitched four innings picking up the loss and falling to 0-1 on the season. Spinks allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Hunter Rhymes (Lucedale) and Wyatt Hodges (Brookhaven) both pitched one inning of relief with Rhymes allowing one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk while the appearance for Hodges was a scoreless inning.

Game Two

The Wolves wasted no time in scoring early and often against Mississippi Delta as they plated at least two runs in the four innings of at-bats. The scoring for the Wolves started with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first as Kade Parker (Cadeville, La.) was hit-by-pitch and then scored as Kenner Bizot reached on an error and advanced to third on the play. Bizot then later scored on a single by DJ Walker (Brandon) making the score 2-0.

The lone run for the Trojans came in the top of the second as they cut the Wolves lead down to 2-1. However, the Wolves responded with their biggest scoring inning of the game as they plated five in the bottom half. Braydon Muse (Florence) hit a lead-off single followed by a double by Reed Barlow (Florence) while both then scored on a double by Gavin Brogden (Brookhaven) maiking the score 4-1. Parker was then hit-by-pitch for the second straight at-bat while Brogden scored on a single by Bizot. Parker then scored on an RBI groundout by Tom Biggs while Bizot scored on a sacrifice fly by Walker making the score 7-1.

The Wolves increased the score to 9-1 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third as Muse, Brogden, and Parker all drew walks to load the bases. Muse then scored on a passed ball while Brogden scored on a wild pitch. The final two runs for the Wolves came in the bottom of the fourth as Walker and Spring hit back-to-back singles to put two runners on with one out. Walker then scored on an RBI groundout by Andrew Smith (Morton) while Spring scored on a single by Braydon Muse making the score 11-1. The Trojans put two baserunners on in the top of the fifth, but the Wolves slammed the door on the scoring threat to end the game and secure the 11-1 win.

DJ Walker and Brayden Muse went 2-for-2 at the plate with Walker collecting two RBIs while Muse had one RBI while Gavin Brogden went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one double. Reed Barlow went 1-for-2 while Brady Spring and Kenner Bizot went 1-for-3 with Bizot collecting one RBI.

Kade Parker got the start on the mound for the Wolves and picked up his first win of the season to improve to 1-0. Parker pitched all five innings allowing one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Wolves are now 3-3 overall and will return to action with a doubleheader against Kaskaskia (Ill.) on Friday, February 18. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
