Mendenhall Elementary School Announces Winners of Bookmark Contest

Mendenhall Elementary School (MES) recently announced the winners of its Fourth Annual MES Bookmark Contest. The contest was led by school librarian Tracey Crawford.

Opened to all students from kindergarten to fourth grade, participants had one month – beginning in January – to create a design that would promote reading with words, a favorite character, and/or pictures.

One winner from each grade was selected, which were

·         Graham Grubbs, kindergarten

·         Audra Evans,  first grade

·         Harmony Lucas, second grade

·         Aiden Hoang, third grade

·         Brianna Steverson, fourth grade

As a reward, the students received a certificate, bookmark and a new hardback book. They will also have their bookmarks printed and distributed to their peers in their respective grades.

“The judges had a tough time choosing these winners because the submissions were so creative,” said Crawford. “Let’s continue to promote reading, as well as the arts with our children.”
