As of Monday morning, August 30, 2021, Magee has avoided the wrath of Ida.  Although a lot of rain has fallen and filled ditches, we are not seeing as many trees down in the city as we did 16 years ago when Katrina made her entrance.

According to Magee Police Chief Chris Jones, “water is rising on 11th NW at City Limits between Berry Motor and Martha’s Grocery.  Over all, the city is in good shape at the moment.”

If rain continues throughout the day, we will see other areas of our city flood.

These photos were shared with me by Cassandra Franks.  The pictures are of the ditch under the bridge on 5th avenue near the track and a friend’s back yard.

Casey Harlan woke up to huge limbs down at their house in Mendenhall. When twelve year old, Keegan Harlan, woke up, he went out and started clearing …without being asked (barefoot and all)! Our children can surprise us every now and then!
