Ashton Van Cleave, the son of Brad and Kathy Van Cleave, has committed to play baseball for Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

A life-long resident of the area, Ashton will graduate in May from Mize Attendance Center with Honors.  He is the starting catcher for the Mize Varsity Baseball Team and lettered in both baseball and football while at Mize Attendance Center.

 In 2021 he was invited to play with the Mississippi Stars for both the 18 U and collegiate teams with legendary coach, Harry Porter.

During an exceptional Senior year at Mize, Ashton was selected  First Team All Division in Division 8-AA.  This distinction is the result of opposing coaches’ votes in Division 8AA. Ashton was also selected in the Mississippi All Star Draft to represent 1/2A South in the D.M. Howie All Star game this summer at WIlliam Carey University.  

Ashton received multiple formal offers to play collegiate baseball. 

 Ashton has received both a baseball scholarship and the Dean’s Scholarship for academics.  

Congratulations  Ashton!  Your hard work has paid off!!!
