The “hill” at Mize High School was jumping Friday night, September 12, 2025, as the Mize Bulldogs hosted the Magee Trojans. The team spirit was shown on both sides of the pigskin.

The teams stayed head-to-head most of the game. At the end, the Trojans were victorious.

Leading Magee to victory were Tyler Walker and Travon Magee. Walker gained 159 total yards and a touchdown, while Magee threw for 170 yards and one touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 21 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Braeden Gregory, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Magee now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mize, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Magee will square off against Collins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mize, they will challenge Raleigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Coach’s Take

By Coach Chase Courtney

“It was a great and exciting high school football game with a great atmosphere. Coach Maddox has done a great job of building a really good atmosphere. Both teams had trouble stopping each other. Mize is a really big and physical team.

I told the team immediately after the Mendenhall game, we had to learn from it but we couldn’t let them beat us twice. I thought our kids did a great job of channeling that message.

It’s no secret that we have suffered a really unusual amount of injuries, especially on the offensive line. We are going to coach up the guys we have and keep pushing forward. The season is long, and we just need to keep fighting.”
