Tommy Barnes of Magee, MS went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2021. He was 83 years of age. He was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on Christmas Day in 1937, to Grady F. Barnes and Dora (Beeler) Barnes.

After graduating from Stigler High, he began a career of painting for 55 years. It was something he took great pride in. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, making people laugh, and most of all babies and children. He was an avid Sooner fan and enjoyed football. Even though he lived in Mississippi for 43 years, he never lost his love for Oklahoma or forgot his roots.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanna (Canoy) Barnes; sons, Steve Barnes(Debbie), Scott Fortenberry (Katie); daughters, Kay Harrell, Cindy Fortenberry, Sandra Hubbard (Dale); brothers, Dale Barnes (Marsha), Mike Barnes (Renee); sister, Carolyn Bowling (Joe); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie Ball; grandson, Joshua Ball; sister, Louise Turney and nephew, David Turney.
