Jonathan Pierce of Apex Physical Therapy and the Athletic Trainer for Simpson Academy joined MageeNews.com one last time to complete our series for Physical Therapy month and to discuss common injuries among basketball players, as well as how to avoid them.

Pierce said the most common injuries in basketball, as in other sports, are ankle injuries. One of the things that impact the number of injuries among basketball players is the length of the season. While it is often less hectic than football season for athletic trainers, it is also much longer, he said.

Another area of concern Pierce addressed during the interview was ACL injuries and how they most often occur.
