Board president Mitchell Chapman called the meeting to order followed by prayer and the Pledge Of Allegiance.

Supervisor Wayne Womack provided the following information:

Solid Waste:  125 tons per week for waste; $172.30 a ton.

2 1/2 million in unpaid solid waste bills.

A $200,00 loan was taken from the general fund.  Only $100,000 has been moved to the Solid Waste account.

Supervisors unanimously  passed a Solid Waste increase of $48 per quarter

(The solid waste issue was discussed at the end of the meeting)

Worn-Out Garbage Trucks

The Board adopted an Order to approve the Claims Docket of February 15, 2024 in the amount of $965,321.46 and the electronic payment claims for VISA for the Board of Supervisors in the amount of $1,525.55 and for the Sheriff in the amount of $107.52.

The January  2024 completed claims docket to be made a part of the minutes and for the Board President to sign.

The Financial Reports, Solid Waste Report and monthly credit card reports were approved.

Authorized the continued extension of the Emergency Order for Bridge Repairs.

Approved the Simpson County Board of Education School Bus turnaround pending written request from the Simpson County School Board.

Approved for the Road Department to provide CDL training with Louisiana Truck Driving Training, LLC and required licenses and permits to employees at an estimated cost of $1,181.00 per employee.

Approved the purchase of :

A.  Ratify the purchase of various plastic culverts in the amount of $12,938.40 to be derived to the Pinola Barn.  G&O Supply gave lowest quote.

B.  Ratify the purchase of various plastics culverts and brands in the amount of $12,766.38 to be delivered to Central Barn.  G&O Supply was the lowest quote,

 

Approved applicable travel, meals, lodging, registration, and mileage expense for:

A.  Supervisors and support staff to attend the 2024 Annual MAPDD Conference to be held April 23-26 in Biloxi.

B.  Supervisors and support staff to attend the 2024 Annual NACo Conference to be held July 12-15 in Tampa, Florida.

C.  Animal Control office Michael Andrews to receive National Animal Control Association Animal Control officer training for ACO I and ACO II at a total cost of $894.00 .  These are online courses.

 

Authorized the claims and immediate issuance of checks for the following:

Here Rental win the amount of $74,000 for the purchase of 3 vehicles upon receipt of the vehicles.

 

A discussion concerning moving the Sold Waste Clerk to the Tax Assessors office was held.  The plan was approved with the approval of County attorney.
