Simpson Girls Cross Country wins MAIS AAAA State Championship!
The Simpson girls have had a great season with numerous team wins led by 9th grader, Carson Carter. Their wins include the Cathedral Twilight 2 mile, PCS Invitational, Simpson Invitational, MC Watson Invitational, Columbia Invitational, and they were runner-up at the Jackson Prep Invitational. They also traveled to Pensacola, Florida to compete where they placed 3rd as a team with the top 4 girls placing in the top 10.
Carson Carter has been the overall winner in 3 meets this season. Simpson has had top 10 finishes from Carson Carter, Layla Warren, Emma Overstreet and Mary Margaret White at almost every meet. This team competed Monday, October 28 at Choctaw Trails in Clinton in the MAIS State Cross Country Championship and came out on top. 4 girls placed in the top 10 earning All-State honors – Carson Carter 4th, Layla Warren 7th, Emma Overstreet 8th and Mary Margaret White 9th.
On the boys side, Simpson had 2 make All-State. Drew Williams was 5th with Denver Carter 9th.
Top 25 finishers at State were Carson Carter, Layla Warren, Emma Overstreet, Mary Margaret White, Kinsley Welch, Sophie Grubbs, Cameron Bishop, Drew Williams, Denver Carter and Noah Oversteet.
