Trojans fell early to the Cougars in a game Saturday, March 9, 2019 at home. Spring rains and baseball games seem to be a challenge the last couple of weeks. The rain held off for the day to allow play. Simpson won by a score of 8-0.
Magee struggled against the talented Cougars, giving up eight runs.
Simpson put points on the board early in the first inning on a double by Noah Magee on a 2-0 count, scoring the first run.
Things looked positive for the Trojans when Brennon McNair singled on a power hit in the second inning.
Cole Giardano toed the rubber for the cougars. Cole went five innings, allowing zero runs, no hits, and striking out six.
Seth Russell was on the mound for the Trojans. Russell allowed seven hits, five runs, striking out four before being relieved. Luke West entered the game as relief, striking out four, before McNair made a trip to the mound. McNair threw one and one-third innings. McNair was two for three at the plate to lead Magee hits.
Simpson tallied then hits on the day. Hooks Harvey and Freeman each had multiple hits for the Cougars. Harvey led the Cougars with three hits and three at bats on the day.
