The small amount of rain received in the county this week did not remove the burn ban.  John Kilpatrick, Simpson County Emergency Management, informed me this week to please remind everyone DO NOT BURN.

Simpson County has been plagued with house fires and wildfires during September.  If you see someone burning, please contact the Sheriff’s Department or local police.

Fire conditions are again a concern with the return of dry air.  Temperatures will likely be 5-10 degrees above average and drought is not expected to improve. Simpson County is classified as a D-4 by the National Weather service which means exceptional drought.
