Tropical Storm Barry will be our weekend guest!  Barry is scheduled to make landfall on the Mississippi/Louisiana coast.

According to www.weather.gov/Jan, heavy rainfall and flash flooding will affect large parts of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Tornadoes will become a risk as rain bands move inland beginning Friday night.

Projected winds for our area are 30 MPH.

City of Magee Emergency Management coordinate, Joe Worrell, expressed the need for being safe during the rains.  Police Chief Randy Crawford reminded citizens to stop and turn around if there are barricades  in the street.  “The heavy rains several weeks ago caused several areas in the city to retain water…be careful and drive careful,” stated Crawford.

Magee is in the Significant Threat area:

7-12 inches of rain with isolated amounts of 15” or more

Widespread flash flooding likely

Numerous roads flooded, closed or washed out

Flooding of structures increasingly likely, water reduces possible.
