Students of the Public Law and Safety program at Simpson County Technical Center recently toured the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility located in Rankin County.
Getting a firsthand look at prison life, students heard from several offenders as they talked about their life in prison and what led them there. They also spoke with other offenders who voiced the negative impact drugs have had on their lives and the importance of staying in school and making better decisions. They were also shown some of the obedience instructions performed by trained K-9 dogs.
Students were amazed at how big the prison was while visiting male, female and youth wards.
