When city residents received their monthly water bill, almost everyone saw an increase…and I mean  sometimes huge increase in their bill.

We knew our bills would increase with the automated water meters but nothing like this!  My personal bill jumped over $100.  I am the only one who lives at my house!  My pool water bill is on another water meter.  That bill also increased. I’m not filling a pool!

At the Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday night, February 4, 2025, the mayor announced for citizens to not pay their bills.  Apparently, there is a glitch in the software which is being addressed currently.  No late fees will be assessed, and no water will be cut off at homes/businesses.

I can tell you this, those ladies at City Hall had some kind of day!

Your patience is greatly appreciated.

I wish Smith crossing would have done the same thing when they changed meters several years ago. Some people had bills that went from the 20s to 100s. You had to pay it get cut off.

My bill runs about $41 dollars, this month was $141 + we did not run water just insulated our outside faucets and water line, added extra heat inside to the water lines, new efficient windows so don’t run heat! I WILL NOT PAY THIS BILL!
