SCSD Announces District Teacher and Administrator of the Year

Simpson County School District (SCSD) is pleased to announce its 2021-2022 District Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year.

Brianne Kelly, law and public safety instructor for Simpson County Technical Center, was selected as the District Teacher of the Year. She has been with the district for approximately two years. Since her tenure, Kelly has been innovative in introducing hands-on learning techniques to her technical students.

Dr. Paul Lawrence, principal of Magee Elementary School, was selected as the Administrator of the Year. He has been with the district since 2015. Since his arrival to the district, Lawrence has led his school from an F to a B and has maintained that B status for several years.

Nominated by their peers, Kelly and Lawrence were ultimately selected for the outstanding service, commitment and leadership they have demonstrated at their respective schools.

As the new District Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year, both Kelly and Lawrence will contend for state-level recognition alongside other teachers and administrators across Mississippi.

“This selection process was very difficult, as we have outstanding teachers and administrators here at Simpson County School District,” said Dr. Robert Sanders, assistant superintendent for human resources and operations. “We are proud of all of our nominees, especially Ms. Kelly and Dr. Lawrence, who we believe will represent our district wonderfully on the state level. We appreciate them for all that they do and for being an integral part of our district.”
