Riley Dewey Myers passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the age of 69. He was born on February 8, 1949, to the late Hiram Dewey and Esther Riley Myers.
Riley has been involved in sports all of his life and loved all things Ole Miss. He played football at his alma mater from 1967 until 1971 and was captain of his team in ’71. He was an Ole Miss Rebel baseball letterman for three years and also traveled to the College World Series. He coached football and baseball for over thirty-five years in Mississippi and had an amazing career including two state football championships at Pillow Academy. He was a longtime member of The Dirty Thirty and The M Club. He also enjoyed spending time doing anything outdoors but especially fishing, hunting and cutting his lawn.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Cathy Myers; son, Scott Dewey Myers (Lacey); daughters, Brandy Musgrove (Lance), Whitney Herman (Ben) and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Mickey Myers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Magee, MS, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the service following at 3:00 p.m. Ole Miss colors or casual attire is requested.
In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
