We are pleased to announce that Mayor, Johnny Magee of Laurel, Mississippi and Michael E. Mayden (AKA the Coach) CEO of the National Urban Professional Baseball League will be holding a press conference on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Wooten Legion Field in Laurel, MS at 10:00 a.m. To announce that Professional Baseball Coming to Laurel, Mississippi all business, church, community leaders and well-wishers are welcome to attend this ground breaking moment.

The NUPBL will be bringing a Professional Baseball Team to Laurel, MS in the spring of 2018. Wooten Legion Field in Laurel, MS will serve as the home field for the team. This league in its initial conception will consist of four (4) teams with plans for expansion. The creation of this professional Baseball League is designed to provide family entertainment, promote diversity in baseball and to honor the history and memories of past African America baseball players (the same as the Negro League Museum in Kansas City, MO). “Baseball in our inner-cities is dying and the NUPBL will be giving African American baseball players a new hope to live out America’s past-time. This league will offer minority baseball players the opportunity to play the game they love on a professional level, an opportunity many have been denied.

“A few years ago a little league baseball team from the Southside Chicago by the name of Jackie Robinson West captured the hearts and soul of the nation. Most importantly they captured the heart and soul of the African American community around the world. We want this league the NUPBL to capture the heart and soul of the nation and mostly importantly the hearts and the souls of the African American community. We are looking for excitement, enthusiasm and support from the African American Community for this league from the East, the West, the North and the South. This league in “NO WAY” will be limited to only African American players. We are seeking the best baseball players from across the United States and the World regardless of their ethnic background. (Said Coach Mayden)”
